Civic Voices and Latvian students

Today, I met Latvian students in their Latvian and World History class to begin the Civic Voices International Democracy Memory Bank Project discussion.

After the initial class meeting, we spent the next two lesson sessions in the computer lab where they participated in the online surveys.

Lively discussions ensued as they shared their ideas about civic engagement and recognizing active citizenship.

The students had many questions about the terminology, so we had English-Latvian languages class at the same time!

When surveyed at the end of our time, each student said he or she had learned at least one new concept; I am gratified.
