Gentlemen, I hope you are well. Today has been a busy day, and tomorrow will bring more adventures. We are traveling to Valmeira to meet another teacher and her colleagues, and the trip will take us through rural countryside and along one of Latvia's lovely rivers. I expect to take many photos for the blog. I am not sure I will be near the internet when your class meets, but I videotaped a message to you. We visited the center of Riga world renown for its collection of Art Nouveau architecture. Beautiful buildings and lovely ornamentation! The video contains a challenge for you: why is this man honored with a stature in the middle of Riga?
Another clue for the Statue mystery:
After having the opportunity to visit Latvia and its wonderful teachers through the Teaching Excellence and Achievement grant in April, 2011, I am returning to Riga and more of Latvia's charms! Check out Teachers for Global Classrooms (TGC) Program For more info go to: http://www.irex.org/project/teachers-global-classrooms-program-tgc What a spectacular experience!
